Day 1

The capital of Peru, LimaUpon arriving in Lima, pass through Immigration Control, then retrieve your checked luggage from the carousel to pass through Customs. Despite the fact your airline may have said your bag will be checked through to your final destination, this is actually not the case and All passengers must retrieve  their bags to pass through Customs and then re-check-in their luggage through to your final destination. Keep your immigration card with your passport as you need it to check-in at hotels and to exit the country. Make your way to the gate hours prior take-off to board your 7:55am LA2125 Flight, arriving in Arequipa at 9:30am this morning.  Arequipa services are on your own

Day 2

Open day to explore Arequipa on your own.

This evening, pack a small/medium bag of only the items you’ll need for the next two days containing toiletries and necessary overnight and Machupicchu visit items which you will take via train to your Aguas Calientes hotel. We will stop briefly at your Cusco hotel to check the bulk of your luggage which can be left, locked and labeled, as big bags are not allowed on the Machupicchu train. The max weight that you can carry on the train is 22 pounds or 10 kilos.

Day 3

Make your way on your own to the airport 2 hrs prior your 8:40am LA2094 flight, arriving Cuscofoto aboust cusco 01 At 9:40am.

Cusco airport Reception: Upon arrival at the Cusco airport, look for an Andean Spiritual Path representative holding a paddle with “your name” on it. You are given a private transfer to the Sacred Valley. We stop first at your Cusco Hotel to drop off the items you do not need at Machupicchu. Only carry-on size bags are allowed on the train.

We proceed with your Private Sacred Valley tour, beginning in the village of Chinchero which we visit before continuing on to Ollantaytambo. Ollantaytambo is a picturesque village which still has its Incan-built aqueducts running through the streets and grain store-houses perched above the village. You’re assisted with boarding the 4:36pm Inca Rail 45 Train, to arrive in Aguas valle-sagradoCalientes at 6:09pm.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, make your way the short distance on your own to the hotel, Tierra Viva (2 nights: booked directly by passengers)

Your Local Machupicchu ruins guide makes contact with you at your hotel this evening to orient you on the next day’s tour and visit to the ruins. Box Lunch is included. Dinner is on your own today.

Day 4

The gate to Machupicchu opens at 6:00am. Make your way up to the ruins on your own with your 2-way shuttle tickets. Your entry to Machupicchu citadel is also included. Get in line at about 5-machupicchu5:15am to arrive at the ruins at time of opening.

Huayna Picchu Hike: Your 7:00am-8:00am entrance is prepaid. To do this hike, you must present yourselves at the entry to Huayna Picchu between 7:00am and 8:00am to gain entry.

After your hike, enjoy your 3-hour Private Machupicchu tour with a local Machupicchu specialist guide, covering the most important sites within the ruins.

After the tour, the second chance to explore the citadel for a couple of hours on your own. For lunch, consider the Sanctuary Lodge buffet or lunch at the café, both just outside the main gate. Descend via shuttle on your own and make your way back to the hotel. Lunch and dinner are on your own.

Day 5

Make your way the short distance to the station in plenty of time to board the 8:30am departure sacsayhumanon the Inca Rail #42 Train, arriving in Ollantaytambo at 10:10am.

Reception in Ollantaytambo for your private transfer to Cusco and to your hotel, Libertador Palacio del Inca (2 nights: booked directly by passengers). We reach Cusco about 12:30pm.

Bring your BTG multi-site permit this afternoon.

2:00pm pickup from your hotel for your Private Half-Day Cusco & Local Ruins Tour, including the Cusco Cathedral, the Inca Temple of the Sun, Q’enqo, and Sacsayhuaman.

Entrances Included: Cusco Cathedral, Temple of the Sun.

At 6:00pm, you have a Trek Briefing at your hotel. At the meeting you’ll receive your trek duffels for your items to be carried by llamas, thinks which you don’t need access to during the day.

Day 6

Enjoy this open day in Cusco to explore on your own. Cusco is full of wonderful markets, museums,San Pedro Mercado restaurants, and artisan shops you can browse at your own pace.

This evening, prepare your day-pack with the items you’ll need while hiking and prepare your trek duffel with your overnight trek items, stuff you’ll need while actually hiking. There is no official limit to how much weight you can give the llamas but please bring only what’s necessary. Usually this is about 15-20lb. per person. Non-trek items can be checked at your hotel front desk for storage while you’re trekking. We advise your bags are locked and labeled for safe-keeping. Lunch and dinner are on your own today.

Day 7

Ausangate Trek, 5-Days/4-Nights (ASP confirmation: xxxxx)

Pitumarca8:00am pickup from your hotel to commence the 3-hour drive in a private along the valley of the Vilcanota River. After a visit to the beautiful colonial church at Checacupe, we ascend the Pitumarka River valley, past the community of Osefina, to Chillca. We have lunch at 14,077ft by a rushing mountain stream, then begin our trek following the stream up though a ravine and out onto the beautiful pastures of Chillca community. It’s about an hour’s easy walk today, to the Chillca Tambo (4,368m/14,327ft) where we spend the night. After settling in, you have time to explore the surroundings or just to relax and enjoying the beautiful views. In the evening people from the village entertain our groups with traditional music.

All meals are included on the trek, though if you’ve favorite snack items, you’re encouraged to bring some.

Day 8

Today our hike continues up the wide valley of Upis, where impressive glaciated mountains looms aboveausangate offering majestic views. The trail narrows as we make our way toward the waterfalls descending from the Santa Catalina mountain. This path is mostly used by the wandering llamas of the area. Once we reach the small Paloma Lagoon the countryside is dotted with these animals, and also a large number of alpacas. After hiking along a second lagoon and crossing a long series of moraines, we reach the Machuracay Tambo (4,805m/15,760ft) located at the base of Apu Ausangate where we spend the night.

Day 9

After  a demanding  ascent of the Palomani Pass, (5,150m/16,892ft), we descend to Ausangate cocha. “Cocha” means a lake in the local Quechua. Tremendous views of the glaciated, south face of the “Apu” inspires us as we continue toward the red sandstone formations of the “Nevado del Inca”. We spend the night tonight in Anantapata Tambo (4,700m/15,416ft).

Day 10

VicunasToday we experience a spectacular part of the trail, hiking in the middle of maintains with red, ochre, and blue strata. This section offers a glimpse of marvelous, geological wonders and natural beauty. Also, be on the lookout for groups of gracious vicuñas, as they are frequently spotted in this isolated area. We sleep in the Huampococha Tambo (4,818m/15,803ft), in the heart of large rock formations near a lagoon where “huallatas” (Andean geese) make their nests.

 

Day 11

After final climb over Anta Pass (4,908m/16,098ft), we gradually make our descent . As we get lower in the elevation, the first crops and houses come into view. The landscape changes quickly as the red sandstones formations are followed by the Carsten erosion  of limestone, forming a one of a kind stone forest, and a perfect habitat for “vizcacha”, members of the chinchilla family. By the time we get down the valley to Congomire (3,886m/12,746ft) and have lunch, our bus is already waiting for the return trip to Cusco where you’re dropped off at your hotel, Libertador Palacio del Inca (1 night: booked directly by passengers). Dinner is on your own this evening.

Day 12

12:40pm pickup from your Cusco hotel for your transfer to the Cusco airport in time for your 3:05pm LA2074 flight, to arrive Lima at 4:35pm.

Lima services are on your own. Make sure you’re at the Lima terminal at 9:50pm, three hours prior your (June 5th) 12:50am LA530 flight departure. Lunch and dinner are on your own today.
