Day 1

Lima airport Reception: On departing the controlled customs area in Lima airport, look for an Andean Spiritual Path representative holding a paddle with “….” On it. Keep your immigration card with your passpart. You need it to check-in at hotels and to exit Peru.

limaFrom the airport, we depart for your Private 4-hour Colonial & Modern Tour of Lima. We enjoy a walking tour of the Plaza Mayor and visit to the San Francisco Church and monastery, the best  preserved of the churches in the city’s colonial heart. We visit the Parque del Amor and Miraflores before transfer to the Larco Herrera Museum.

Included site fees: San Francisco Church.

Your guide departs  and you enjoy  lunch on your own on the patio and explore the museum at your leisure this afternoon. Entry to the museum is payable locally by you. Have the museum staff assist you with a taxi to your hotel, the Costa del Sol (1 night: booked directly by passengers). Lunch and dinner are on your own.

Day 2

Have the hotel call you a taxi to arrive at the gate this morning at least 2 hours prior your 8:00am Avianca #809 Flight, arriving at 9:20am.

Your airport reception agent gives you your BTG-multi-site permit this morning.

Enjoy  this open day in Cusco to relax, acclimate, and explore on your own. Have  your hotel call you a taxi to give you transfer to Sacsayhuaman on your own today. Your BTG multi-site entry is included and necessary for entry to the ruins today. Bring it with you. Bring snacks and water and go slowly to help you acclimate.

Cusco is full of wonderful markets, museums, restaurants, and artisan shops you can browse at your own pace. Lunch and dinner are on your own today.

Day 3

8:30am pickup for your Full-day Private Sacred Valley Tour, starting with Chinchero. Chinchero is known for its weaving and for its church built on the foundation of an Inca palace. From here, we continue on to the Moray agricultural ruins and admire the Andes Mountains from this vista point. Not far from here are the Maras Salt Pools. A short walks takes us down to the Sacred Valley and we continue to Ollantaytambo, a picturesque village which still has its Incan built aqueducts running through the streets and grain store-houses perched above the village.

We visit the impressive stone ruins and conclude at your hotel.Americanchin

7:00pm Trek Orientation Meeting at El Mercado Hotel. The guides go over important details regarding packing and the trek logistics to be aware of. You receive your trek duffel  at this meeting for your necessary over –night gear to be carried by a mule or porter (max 15kl/30lb). You can check your extra , non-trek luggage in at your hotel for safekeeping while you’re on your trek. We advise it’s left locked and leveled.

Pack your trek duffels this evening in preparation for your trek!

Lunch is included in a local restaurant. Dinner is on your own today.

Day 4

Salkantay Lodge-to-Lodge machupichu Trek (Mountain Lodges of Peru confirmation: ASP)

8:00am pickup at your hotel in Cusco. We travel west out of the Cusco Valley and across the Pampa de salkantay-2Anta. We pass through the mountainous village of Mollepata and soon reach the trailhead at Marcoccasa. In today’s acclimation hike, we trek for 4 hours on a moderate grade, ascending a winding mountain track high above the Rio Blanco. Just when you’ve had enough walking for one day, we reach the broad meadow called Soraypampa and enjoy our first views to Nevado Salkantay. We overnight at Salkantay Lodge and Adventure Resort (2 nights)

This evening, a trek briefing  and dinner are held at the Lodge.

Day 5

Today, you have a free day to explore. You may opt to do local hikes, or to do a more ambitious scramble toSalcantay Lodge a viewpoint to take in the panorama. In the evening,  the guide briefs the trekking party on gear and the itinerary for the next four days. We overnight at Salkantay Lodge and Adventure Resort.

Day 6

Today we start the four-day trek to Machupicchu. The first part of the day is a gentle grade, crossing Soraypampa up to Salkantaypampa. Beyond Salkantaypampa, the grade become more demanding as we switchback upwards toward the pass. We reach the highest point of the trek, Salcantay Pass (15,000 ft) in the morning. From the pass, we continue our descent to Wayra Lodge.

Day 7

Today, we continue hiking downhill above the Salkantay River, through increasingly verdant scenery. Qollpa Lodge is located in an open promontory at the confluence of three rivers. We arrive to the lodge in time for  a late lunch. This afternoon is open for optional activities or to relax. Overnight at Qollpa Lodge.

Day 8

Lucma LodgeAfter breakfast, we head down the Santa Teresa River Valley, through more populated rural areas with coffee plantations. We stop along the river for a hot picnic lunch. From the river it is a short climb to Lucma Lodge.

Day 9

We head  uphill for two hours towards  Llactapata pass where we are rewarded for our efforts with a distant view of Machupicchu.  Our viewpoint  is the Llactapata ruins, which have recently restored. We then begin our final descent to the Vilcanota River through lush bamboo forests and more orchards and coffee plantations. We take a short train ride from here to Aguas Calientes and your hotel, Machupicchu Pueblo (1 night: booked by Andean Spiritual Path)

Day 10

Machupicchu 02We wake up very early to have breakfast at the hotel and then make our way to the bus for the ride up to Machupicchu Citadel. We include a guide tour of Machupicchu citadel. We descent in the afternoon for  a hot, buffet-style lunch and walk to the train station for our train to Ollantaytambo. From Ollantaytambo station, we are met and receive transfer to your Cusco hotel, Costa del Sol-Picoaga (1 night: booked directly by passengers). Dinner is on your own.
